Lisa is a self-taught artist who had been exploring shapes and patterns through photography and painting for several years. In 2000, she found that she could best express herself in mosaic. “Mosaic appeals to me on a fundamental level. I can deconstruct one form and reconstruct it as a new and unique pattern, renewing myself in the process. Besides, it’s fun to smash stuff.”

Educated as a chef and food historian, Lisa finds mosaic feeds her desire for something that lasts. “The goal in creating an artful meal is for it all to disappear. Mosaic nourishes the part of my soul that wants something to remain.” Having lived and traveled all over the world, her work reflects the cultures and perceptions she experienced.

More recently, Lisa has been working in 2D and 3D ceramics – handcrafting tile to enhance her mosaics as well as sculptures she makes using cement. “My art is an organic process – the more I do it, the more I learn; therefore, I am continually coming up with new ways to evolve with my work.”

Lisa creates unique, one of a kind pieces. The majority of her work is in ceramic tile, but she also uses glass, polymer clays, and found objects. Her mosaics range from wall hangings to more whimsical pieces such as yard sculptures and furniture. She also designs and installs custom pieces that reflect her client’s vision.
